A Birthday Cake

If your Scottie's birthday is coming soon, you might be thinking what to get him or her. A toy, an "experience" (maybe not a bungee jump") or some extra-special treat.

Well how about combining that with something healthy for your dog this birthday?

Today was Pikush's 6th birthday and also the National Health Service's 72nd birthday. So we are thinking: healthy, healthy, healthy!

In these difficult times of Coronavirus, we are all especially conscious of the need for healthy living.

Here is a cake we baked this morning and it is moist, satisfying, and deliciously healthy for both dogs and humans! Yes, everyone can eat it and enjoy it!

Introducing...Peanut Butter, Carrot and Apple Sauce Cake.

Peanut Butter, Carrot and Apple Sauce Cake

Ingredients:

  • Peanut Butter (without xylitols)
  • Apple Sauce
  • Grated carrots and apple
  • Small amount of honey
  • Eggs
  • Self-raising flour
  • Vegetable oil
  • Baking powder (especially if you're using plain flour)

As you probably know, not all the above ingredients are good for dogs. By this we mean peanut butter. It is important to select this carefully. Hence we emphasise: without xylitols.

This easy to make cake is low on sugar yet very satisfying for everyone to sample. A healthy option and a special birthday treat!

We hope you like this healthier option. Let us know how you get on with the cake!
